hey! here's to the final week! saturday is our last day and boy is it fast approaching. we still have a few things left (mostly paper, ribbon, and a handful of embellishments).

first of all, i want to say thanks to all of the well wishers! this has been an interesting journey and i am so glad that you all came along for the ride. we have many adventures planned ahead so thanks for all the good luck you've sent our way!

i also wish to tell you that i'm going to upkeep my blog with my crafty stuff so if you hang around, i'll be posting pretty things to inspire you :) i'll probably start posting again in early march so i can get everything settled at home :)

i've had a lot of great memories here and i have met some of my dearest friends here. i have learned a lot from working here and i have made lots of discoveries for my future here. needless to say, i am grateful for every single moment of this store. i truly hope that you all enjoyed the last three years as much as we have.

It is with great sadness and disappointment that Scrapbook Heaven must say "aloha" to our dear friends and customers. We can no longer weather this economic storm so we are shutting our doors effective February 20th.

All merchandise will be on sale for 50% off

"spring" cleaning

i dont have pics to share today, but i did want to let you guys in on some info i got from a magazine article.

you know how i've been on this crazy mini album craze? it felt like i crankin um out every week! well much to my dismay, over the weekend, i felt myself slip into a slump! out of nowhere, i hadnt any ideas or drive to make stuff, not even a single page!

(heres a little background info) when i work on a project, i gather all the paper & embellishments i want to use for it and put it in a folder or container of some sort (this way i wont have to keep diggin around when im in the middle of a good idea). when i finish the project and move on to the next one, i never bother to clean out the container that housed the old project's stuff. eventually, i end up with several piles of papers, ribbons and embellishments all over the place.

it finally dawned on me, that the piles and the slump are related. when im surrounded by old mess and disorganization, i feel down in the dumps and unable to work. now, the article i read was more about the cleaning up than the relation between being messy and downward slumps, but thats what i am going to share with you :)

if ever you feel bleh about your crafting, take some time to spruce up your area. when doing anything that invloves creativity, its best to work in an area that is inspiring (sometimes it takes some persiring to make something inspiring).

if you feel bleh about your selection of goodies and your pocket book is feeling a little tight, i suggest going through your crafty storage and pulling out some product that you havent seen for a while and work it into your page.

when you work on organizing your work area, keep in mind that whatever you use most should be kept closest to your work station. if you do end up diggin out some older goodies, try and store them in arms reach so that its easier to access them.

im still in the process of fixing up my area, but i highly suggest you try some of these tips. you never know if it'll take you out of your slump :)

i have some updates for you!!!

this saturday is the Cupcake Swap Crop. what the heck is that??? well, basically its a swap (you make a bunch of the same page and trade it with others) and a crop (after you swap, you sit down and enjoy some good ol' fashion scrappin!) where does the cupcake fit in? thats the theme silly! you make a cupcake recipe card (6x6) and you trade your recipe with everyone elses. you also MUST bring a sampling of the recipe :) *yum*

the swap crop is $20, and you get to pick out a 6x6 album to put your recipes in! also at the crop, we'll be giving away this very cute cupcake stand!

make and takes this saturday!!!!! 1/16 from 10am to 4pm we'll be making this beautiful card! cost is $3. (i am soooooooo loving these colors right now)

and i'm gonna give you a little teaser photo of the envelope mini album! so many of you loved the album that my friend gave us that we decided to make it a class! take a look!
i will have the completed album in store tomorrow if you wanna take a closer look. this class is 1/24, 3:30pm $20 (includes all materials)

here's a little somethin somethin to get you inspired (hopefully!)

this is an album i made for a friend of mine (her bday was in nov, but i only got a chance to post these pics now!). its another 4x4 with no printed paper, all cardstock.

the cover was made last. i had a very hard time coming up with something, just because i feel that the cover should set the tone for the rest of the book. why make an "ok" cover when you feel like the rest is award winning???? either way...i was pleased with this cover :) its velvet cardstock with dry embossing, feathers, a purple chipboard circle w/love stamped and covered in irisescent glitter.

some of the pages were really simple, but still look really cool. this page is just a dark purple cardstock w/an embossed guitar

this page has a smattering of crackle paint. usually i put crackle paint on a piece of chipboard, but this time i experimented! i painted it right onto the cardstock and left a dry-brush technique around the outside. once the crackle paint dried, i used my finger to smear some distress stickles. many people have asked what the difference is between regular stickles and distress stickles and in doing these mini albums i figured it out! regular stickles have glitter that reflect a colored sparkle, distress stickles are see through so the color is there but the sparkle is colorless.

since i tryed out this ribbon weaving technique, i cant stop!!! here it is once more in purple :)

flowers flowers flowers! my albums dont get a stamp of approval unless there is at least one flower (yeah, even my boy pages get flowers. its my scrapbook, so if i say flower, FLOWER!!!)

another simple page. see that bird stamped in white? i bought that stamp 2 years ago and that was the first time i used it!

and the final page, my absolute FAVE (save the best for last right?) there are few words to describe the pride i have in this page. like i said before, there isnt any printed paper in this book...so um yeah, i totally made that design! i used distress inks for all of it: the background, edges and the stamp.

what makes this page extra special is that that background purple is a custom mixed color! the purple distress ink is a tad too blue for this color scheme, so i put some purple, a little red and a touch of black and BAM you get this! i call it Caroline Purple :)

and since this book had flowers, it got my stamp of approval :)

i'm working on a few more albums, so i'll post those here when i'm done :) also, just some fyi, we have 4 new valentine collections coming in, so be on the look out for that post/email/facebook update!!!

actually doing it is a little more tricky than it looks....you kinda have to plan the pages before you glue them down.

see, january is supposed to be on the inside cover of the book, but because i didnt plan properly it ended up so that december was on the back of the book. not really a big deal; but if i could do it differently, thats what i'd do. oops!

i used up a lot of flowers for this project! i also got a chance to use some new inks that i bought :)

i used a bunch of stash stuff: tulle, inks, buttons, stamps, paper scraps.....using stash stuf makes me :)

once i figured out my color scheme, this album was pretty easy to put together. i wanted something soft, feminine and shimmery so i went with greens, pinks, brown and cream with a slight touch of muted orange.

usually i dont put eyelets in the holes to reinforce them, but for this one i did just to add another touch of color. when i do put eyelets, its usually on an album that has a chipboard cover and paper pages. (i also hoard my eyelets...gotta save it for that *one project* right????)
and of course my infamous chandelier stamp! my friends have noticed that i use it on every project! it's an inkadinkado clear stamp set with 3 chandeliers and 2 flourishes...i believe it was $12....man did i get my money's worth already!
i did this whole album in about 2 hours....

december has to be my fave page :) i got that lady in a stamp set for my 20th bday and have been dying to use it! i felt it went great with this album, what do you think?

i would be happy to teach this album as a class! if you'd like, i can do it as a custom class just for you or a group class with you and some girlfriends! i will charge a $5 teacher fee, and give you a supply list (this way you can use your stashy stuff!) let me know! we can plan it for the beginning of the year if you like!

what the heck is a jimmy choo calendar? lets break it down!! jimmy choo is the designer of fabulous women's shoes (the kind of shoes that are drop dead gorgeous and are in no way practical). a calendar is...well a calendar! so what does that mean when you put the two together? you get this:

a beautiful calendar that cant really be used to scribble down appointment dates or important lunches, but DANG is it pretty to stare at!

this calendar was made by a friend of mine...and named by another friend of mine :)
it is so simple really! just a few die cut papers, with a little glimmer mist and some flowers!

the calendar part was just a google image printed off the computer. one could use those little mini calendars (which we are expecting any day now) but my friend said that the mini calendars are made of a kinda flimsy paper and that cardstock would hold up much better.
i love how each page is so different from the others! its like i could stare at each month forever!!!

i also love the chunkiness of this album! it doesnt sit flat at all and looks very charming when it dangles above your desk!

did i mention we recently got a shipment of glimmer mist? yup! i believe there is pearl, gold, a silver and blue in the order we just got, but never fear! for we will eventually get more! (its like pokemon, gotta catch um all!!!

i think i'm gonna get crakin on some of these....they make great gifts! you think my mom would like one???

my friend made this book for a gift exchange that we did and OMG did everyones jaw drop when they saw this bad boy! i was so inspired by this project that i ended up making myself a "Jimmy Choo" the next day!

I am mini album CRAZY!!!

i have been bonkers for mini albums these days!!!! every new one i make gets more and more awesome and i just cant seem to stop the flow of inspiration!!!! so i decided that since i am so pumped for these things, id try and pass it on to you guys so that hopefully you can catch whatever bug bit me!!!

it all started out with this little guy. its a 4x4 halloween mini album made mostly of bazzill cardstock.

the cover is a black cardstock that i embossed with a cuttlebug embossing folder and distressed with silver ink. that ornate name plate is from tim holtz and the "the spooky season" is a fabric tag from Little yellow bicycle.

this page is orange cardstock with a cluster of flowers along the top of the page.

i kinda categorize this page as "not done." just because i have no idea what else to put there... the flourish is from fancy pants and i covered it in tim holtz crackle paint and distress stickles (crackle paint is very difficult to photograph!!!)

this page was my experiment in flaps.

as you can see here, the page opens up and you can add hidden journaling and sneaky photos! if this flap doesnt impress you, dont worry, my flap skills have improved!

one of the few pages with printed paper...very simple and monochromatic dont you think?

this is my faaaaaaaaaaavorite page!!!! since i made this page, i have replicated it soooooo sooooo soooooooo many times! chandelier stamp embossed in black, "boo" glitter letters are from making memories, the flower and brad are from imaginisce

this was my first project using the martha stewart corner/border punches. if i had my way, i'd use this spider web punch on everything!!! i love it sooooo much!!!!

this page is another fave of mine. i made the background paper was made using tim holtz distress inks and inkadinkado clear stamps

and the last page is a bunch of circles!!! i love making pages like this cuz the circles are so bubbly and fun!

so thats one project i've been owrking on! it didnt really take that long to make this album. once i chose the papers, it only took a couple of hours to put it together! 4x4s are so quick and cute! i've made 4 others in different color schemes! i have a ton more to make, but before i do, i've got to complete my other projects (one of which you will see tomorrow!)

so my drive-by post on tuesday - not really related to this post. so what the heck does that mean? i had 2 boxes of goodies on tuesday and i got 6 boxes of goodies on wednesday right before i closed the store!!! *whew* i had my work cut out for me, but i finally finished it all!!!

the first two boxes had a few kaiser craft papers, DCWV papers, Little Yellow Bike papers and We R Memory keepers paper!! might i say yummy yummy yummy!!!

and i got photos of the second set of boxes!!!!

so that's what i've been up to these last couple of days! i have had such a busy busy busy week this week and it just keeps coming!

and here is one of the gifts i made for my friend's birthday! she really loves the twilight movie, so i made her a mini album in the twilight color scheme: black, ivory and blood red!

the album is 4x4, made out of chipboard and mostly cardstock. the cover has feathers and let me tell you, it was really interesting trying to figure out how to get them to stay!!!

this page has pages of an old book with tim holtz crackle paint

a while back, i saw a page my friend did with a safety pin through it and i was DYING to try it on a page!

my new favorite stamp! a chandelier with black heat embossing. my new favorite ribbon weaving technique! effervescence border punch with ribbon laced up. yum yum yum!!!

this page is pretty simple. just flowers and bling

have i told you about my circle cutting system? its a compass, scissors and an edge scraper. i use the compass to trace my circle on the back of my paper, cut it out with scissors and scrape the edges to hide my imperfect cutting abilities :) the edge scraper was $4, compass was $.50 and i cant remember how much the scissors were (but it sure beats a $1874354687463541638 cutting system right??)

another tim holtz technique! using distress ink, i dyed this paper and gave it a very aged feel. i used an old background stamp for the pattern and distress ink in three colors (fired brick, black soot and weathered wood)

this page is a little too simple for my taste, but i still like it. i just took some lace and taped it across the page. i figured most of this page will be covered in pics right?

and thats all there is to it! i'm gonna give this to my friend tomorrow so if you see her, shh!!! i have another one like this that is halloween themed if ever you'd like to see it :) see you later!!!

What is it about the holidays that makes everyone so busy???? my goodness i have been working my butt off lately!!!! its all for a good cause though ;)

we just got in more christmas paper from my mind's eye! i posted a link to the left in the "whats new" area, so go check um out!!!!!!

i'm working on some new promotions for the months of november and december, so hang tight for that! we have the make and takes ready for this saturday (i'll post pics of those tomorrow!) and i've been working on a few mini albums for my friends birthdays this week! dont worry, i'll post pics of them later this week after i give it to them :)

Project i just finished!

this is a mini album one year in the making!!! isnt that ridiculous? it took me a whole year to make this! well...technically a couple of days spread out in a year, but still!

roughly a year ago i got this beautiful bracket album and added the paper on the chipboard. from there i lost inspiration so i left it aside for a while.

eventually i added the giant flower on the front and a little ink here and there but i really felt nothing when i looked at this album. so once more i left it aside...

then last week when i started to clean out my craft stuff i came across this album and the extra paper that went with it and i said, "tomorrow night, i'm gonna finish this album!" so the next night (saturday) i went about finishing it.

i worked on one page at a time (slow and steady wins the race!) and before i knew it i had actually finished it!

i have the pictures planned out, its just a matter of printing them! this album is so fun and girly so i decided to put "girls night out" pictures!

rome wasnt built in a day and neither should your art work! scrapbooking is art; the art of memories!

i would definetly suggest that all crafters go through their stash once in while, because when you do, you rediscover old treasures and you get a better mental inventory of what you have. once in a while you'll find that album you started back in the stone ages and you'll feel the inspiration you need to put the finishing touches.

today i'll be working on the sample for the make and takes this saturday! i'll post another update when i have the photos of those. plus, are you our fan on facebook? why not???? go add us!

Class samples, laser-cut titles and a BOO kit!

first things first, i have samples for the first two classes in november!

this first one is a cute little paper bag album! 11/13/09 at 6:30pm this class is $20. What i love most about this album is that it is so green (as in earth friendly!!) we recycled the paper bags, added some ribbon, paper and voila! mini album! another nice bonus about this class is that when you attend this class, you get an extra set of paper bags to take home!

and here we have the Holiday Brag Book class! 11/15/09 at 3:30pm this class is $15. we are currently working on the november class calendar, but i wanna give you a sneak peek of sorts! i have the dates and the projects in mind but i'm still working on the samples!

november 13th (friday) - paper bag album. ok, so this one most of you kinda already knew about but technically its still part of november events right????

november 15th (sunday) - holiday brag book. this is going to be a 5x7 brag book complete with page protectors to store 5x7 photos or 5x7 layouts!

november 19th (thursday) - holiday home decor. remember a few posts ago i put up pictures of a christmas collage? thats basically the project we're gonna do, but with a little twist!

november 28th (saturday) - holiday countdown calendar. a free-standing tree shaped countdown calendar just in time for the holidays!!!!

some of the products we're using for the samples are still on order, so thats the hold up for the samples. also keep in mind that if any of these projects sound appetizing but you can't make the date, let me know and i can schedule a custom class for you! i can do one-on-one with you or if you wanna bring a gaggle of girlfriends i can do that too! let me know!!!

altered key, new stuff and scrappers jam!!!

i've got lots of new pics to show you! the first set is of an altered chipboard key i made yesterday, another set is some of the new stuff we got, and the last set is from scrappers jam!

when i was going through my stash yesterday, i came across this chipboard key that i bought a while ago and i decided that before the day was done, that key would BE something. so i gathered some supplies (chipboard key, ribbon, flowers, stamps, ink, pearls, rhinestones, alpha stickers, pearl powder, thread and embossing powder) and made this:
first i colored the chipboard with some ink and dusted some pearl powder on top.

then i inked up a tag and embossed it with a word stamp. i added flowers and pearls in the corner and tied a ribbon through the hole and onto the top of the key.
then i added an "s" sticker and hand stitched it to the bottom. i also added a little more bling and a ribbon at the top and voila! its a door hanger! yup! it may not look like much bit its a door hanger! stay tuned, cuz this key is going to be a new laser cut shape!

whats that i hear??? new stuff????? thats right! we just got some new inkadinkado clear stamps!! i looooooove clear stamps and i loooooooove christmas, so whats better than the two together???

i am a total sucker for anything christmas or halloween! these stamps are so cute i could gobble them up!! i really really could! if you need a quick demo on how to use clear stamps, just let me know and i'd be happy to help! they are so quick and easy, it will get you hooked!

stickles! we finally got some stickles in! what are they? they're basically glitter glue in a cute little collectable tube! my favorite way to use them is to smear them onto a painted or covered chipboard and it dries into a nice glittery glaze! i've also smeared some onto a prima flower for a gorgeous finished flower! they have a really nice fine point that works great for hand drawn flourishes! we have a really big variety, come check it out!

do you like aged and distressed stuff? do you like tim holtz stuff? if you said "heck yeah" to either of those questions, then you have GOT to see this stuff! its called crackle paint!

i know that there is a home-depot version of this for walls, but that one isnt acid-free is it? crackle paint looks like a clumpy version of acrylic paint, but the clupiness is what makes it special. tim holtz and his people created this awesome paint product that cracks as it dries. i've heard that the recipe for crackle paint is paint+clumps+awesome ;)

i have a sample if you want a closer look, plus we're demoing crackle paint in this weekend's make and take!

scrappers jam!!! what the heck is a scrappers jam? its an event, planned by this nice lady named sally, that is held twice per year. its basically a GIANT crop where different stores can come and sell cool stuff on the side while scrappers scrap, talk story, eat and have fun!

boo album class, pink gift and Christmas collage thingy

you like my title? does it make sense? not yet!!! ok, i have the image of the boo album class. the class is on the 23rd of october, a friday evening. sorry about the sideways, i couldnt get it to flip right:

im sure all of you know that october is breast cancer awareness month, but many of you may not know that october also happens to be the anniversary month of my mom beating breast cancer. five years ago, my mom kicked cancer to the curb and nothing makes me happier than to celebrate that every october. every year i'll get my mom a gift and after she opens it, we watch this slideshow i made her for her last chemo treatment.

this year, i'm going to make her pink wall art. i learned a really cool mod podge technique from a friend, and here is a picture from the first step in the process. i mixed mod podge with water and pink paint and layered it with pages from a book onto a stretched canvas. this is all i have done for now, but i will keep you updated on its progress. also, dont tell my mom yet, she doesnt know its for her! shh!!

so you saw the boo class, and my pink gift, but what in sam hill is a christmas collage thingy? well i honestly have no idea what else to call it! i used christmas papers to make this collage looking project, but its soooooo much more than a collage!

i found this idea book that i havent flipped through in ages and it had this beautiful collage wall art in it that just had to make! after a few hours of inspiration and perspiration, i finished it! its more than what meets the eye, so it takes several pictures to see everything....

here is what you see at first glance:
looks like a bunch of pretty paper right? NOPE! theres more! the rectangle on the right is actually a door for hidden journaling!

i love that huge flower, but it was such a pain trying to figure out what to put in the center. i painted a chipboard piece and layered a pearl brad in it. a poinsettia would have been pretty too...
and a close up of the tree! this tree is a cuttlebug embossing folder that i lovelovelove so much! i started off with a cream colored carstock, embossed it, then distressed the edges with distress ink. the round thing is actually a drawer pull from home depot!

if you look closely, this embellishment reads "merry christmas." i've had it in my stash for three years and i finally used it!!! its one of my favorite parts of this piece!

so whats with the drawer pull? its a handle. yup! a handle to lift up and put a hidden photo!
it was a really fun project to do and i really loved how accomplished i felt once it was done. if you like this project, i'm happy to do it as a custom class! gimme a call for more details!

eskimo kisses embellishments!!! eskimo kisses is a new line from my favorite company, Basic Grey. Its a very bright and cheery line that has pinks, purples, blues, reds and greens coordinated very well in a christmas theme! we've had the paper for a couple weeks and we just got the embellishments! check um out:

first we have the ADORABLE clear stamps! i love these two eskimo kids, they are so so cute!

epoxy stickers! these are great for card makers because they have quite a few holiday sentiments and they are the perfect size to embellish a card!

pops! pops are basically a dimensional sticker that add a nice POP to your paper crafting!
chipboard stickers!!!! i looooooooove chipboard! especially when its already prettied for you...ok i know "prettied" probably isnt a word, but if it were it would be the perfect word for that sentence right?

rubons rubons rubons! i've said it before, but i cannot get enough rubons! these rubon books that basic grey makes are great because there are tons of designs in one little book!
the collection pack: one sheet of each design, plus a sheet of stickers and a sheet of alphas!
card kit! this card kit is a really great way to jump start your creativity. it comes with the ingredients and step by step instructions on how to make 8 fabulous cards!

ABSOLUTELY INSANE!!!!!! friday was off the wall with the make and takes and the coupon we had....saturday was crazy from the moment we opened until we closed....sunday went by like the blink of an eye and now its monday!

ok this post is gonna be mostly unscrap related, but i am so excited about it, i'm just telling everyone!!! my concert on friday was a blast!!!! i went with a few of my friends to see "Taking Back Sunday"

and katrina. katrina is the one who bought my ticket; i was so loving her that night!

then after the show was done i got to meet some of the band!!!! here's the bass player, Matt Rubano. he plays bass so well, i just loved watching him play!

and the singer Adam Lazzara! i cant believe i got to meet him! it was so awesome! he has such a great stage presence, he is super funny, very lively and excited but in person he came off quite shy. i thought it was very endearing!
i love this picture so much, i swear i must have looked at it a million times since friday! i cant wait to scrap it!

today is going to be an exciting day!!!!!!!!!! its friday the 25th of september, and we have make and takes from 10am to 4pm! you dont have to reserve a time, simply come on down to Scrapbook Heaven! We are making a notebook cover in a christmas theme!

why else is today exciting???? i have more pics to show you! remember the 8x8 album i'm making with only a few sheets of printed paper? yeah that one! i have it finished! take a look:

this is my first page. i didnt intend for it to look like daphne was smelling the flower, but when my mom looked at it she said, "Hey! she's sniffing a flower!" so i guess from now on if anyone asks, i made it that way ;) i kept a simple patterned background and glued the picture down on an angle. after i glued the picture down, i added a rubon and the chipboard flourish and finished it with a fat layered flower!

i think i already showed this layout but i wanna show again :) this one is a pretty easy page to put together. i started off with my 2 background pages, added some vine paper, a half circle and arranged my photos!

i know for sure i showed this layout last time, but i added some goodies to it! i put some flowers and a pretty rubon in the corner. i didnt know until recently that rubons have a shelf life! eek! i know....so i am trying to use up my giant stash of rubons before they all go bad!

for this one, i did add the flowers and a die cut bird, but i dont know how much i like that bird...

i had a hard time arranging the photos for this one. i kinda wanted it to look like bubbles, but it didnt really turn out that way...i'm thinking maybe if i add another circle with journaling it would be ok? what do you think?

this page is missing something. im not sure what, but i know its missing. whenever i get this way about a project, i stop in my tracks. if you keep going when you arent inspired anymore, it can ruin your projects. i think this is as far as i can get, i just cant see it!
this page is definetly one of the more simple ones that ive done. usually i have a printed paper dominating the page, but i felt this one deserved a more simple grace.

this layout was inspired by 2 different 12x12 sketches. when i first discovered the concept of sketches, i didnt really get it. after playing around with them a few times, i can to discover that sketches are like skeletons, you just fill in the blanks!

this layout took basically no time. its just squares, a picture and a rubon. not to exciting...

and there we go! after all the thickness and layers of each page, my book is about 2 inches thick! im so happy that i finally got this book done! i've been working on it for so long! i think i just needed the right paper and a good chunk of inspiration!

and the final reason for todays excitement: MY FAVORITE BAND IS HERE!!!! theyre called "Taking Back Sunday" and theyre a rock band from the mainland that is playing at pipeline tonight. im soooooooo excited!!!! seriously, im so excited that im gripping my pencil much more agressive than i should!

hey! how are you this morning? im lovely!

i was finally able to finish the sample for sunday's class and i got a picture of friday's class. first up is the friday class. we'll be using k&company fall themed paper and bazzill cardstock. i'm going to teach how to use the cricut, acrylic stamps and a few distressing techniques. here's the sample:

its a two page layout that can easily be turned into 2-one page layouts.

if you want to take this class but arent a fan of the papers or color scheme, just let me know and i'd be happy to help you choose some different papers! to sign up for this class, we can take your visa/mastercard over the phone or feel free to stop by! this class is $20.

and we have sunday's class! i know it was kinda hard to "get" the project without seeing a picture, so here you go! we'll be using black and white papers and you get to choose a third color to work into the project. i used teal in the sample.

a black, white and pink album would be really cute! i've also seen some black, white and red projects that look really great and also a black, white and lilac combo looks very elegant. this class is $25.

finally an update! i know, i've been bad...does it help if i said i was thinking of you??? i have been working on so much stuff that time seems to just run through my fingers!

Remember that survey we had? It was a small, just a few questions about stamping (prefered brands, inks and accessories). we pulled the winner and here she is! this is Kim K. and she was the lucky winner of our survey! Congrats Kim!

we are still going over the survey replies and have looked into several of the recommended companies. since so many people requested Hero Arts, we just had to bring in some of their adorable holiday stamps!!

and our display of clear stamps! hero arts came out with a bunch of mini stamps paired with some rhinestones. you can see them in the picture; they're the ones on the top row towards the right (in the red orange and green packaging). you can also see some of our new inkdinkado stamps on the left side! i love inka's clear stamps, they come out so well when you stamp them!

how much do you guys love prima flowers? TONS? ME TOO!! i swear, i put prima's on every single page i do! i can't resist them! we just got a bunch in and they are at a really good price too. come check um out!

i loooove new stuff! we have basic grey's 3 newest lines! eerie is on the left, indian summer in the middle and eskimo kisses on the right.

here i have images of my favorite papers from each line. first i must say that indian summer has to be my favorite line of paper of ALL TIME. i kid you not, this line is so beautiful that i know i dont have photos that would do it justice! the colors are great for fall but so timeless that you could you it for anything! who would have thought to use pink & purple with orange & brown for fall??? here's my favorite paper:
eskimo kisses is a very cute collection! with little houses and eskimo kids in a very rich holiday color combination. this line is double sided with most of the backsides having a generic flourish design so you can really use it for absolutely everything!

and we have eerie, basic grey's first halloween collection. when i first heard that basic grey was coming out with a halloween line, i practically passed out. i have always been a huge fan of basic grey and of halloween paper (i hoard both) and when i saw this line in person, i knew i was going to have to add it to my collection! this line is also double sided.

i have 2 classes this week. one is this friday the 18th and the second is on sunday the 20th.

friday's class is a scrapbook layout class where i'll be teaching distressing techniques, how to use the cricut, and stamping with acrylic stamps. i have the finished sample in store if you'd like to take a look. its using the new fall line from k&company:

sunday's class is a chipboard album. you know those fabulous word albums that we make? each page is a letter and when the album is closed it spells something out. out project will be using an "I [heart] YOU" album. [heart] symbolizes an actual heart shape which i dont have on my keyboard :) we will be using black and white papers and the student gets to choose a 3rd color to go in the album. my sample will be using black, white and teal. its going to be fabulous! i still have room in both of these classes.

new layouts i've actually COMPLETED!!!

remember that crop i was telling you about? the one that was last friday night? yeah that one! well...during those six hours, this is what i came up with!

i've been working on an 8x8 album for my dog Daphne. i used some paper from my stash and i bought tons of cardstock to go with it. now, the design for this album is sort of based around the amount of printed paper that i have. i wanted to challenge myself because the collection is no longer available and i want a cheaper way to handle my hobby. i basically have 9 double-sided printed papers and a sheet of coordinating die cuts; i use the cardstock to "water down" my printed paper.

for those of you who wonder what double-sided paper is for, here's how i use it: when i'm challenging myself to use a limited number of sheets for a project like this, double-sided paper is a way for me to get twice as many prints with the same amount of paper. i used "bloom & grow" by my mind's eye and about 20 sheets of bazzill cardstock. i also threw in a few stash things like ribbons, flowers and a few brads.

ok...i loaded the pics on here in reverse order, so i'm gonna walk you through my album backwards! fun right??? this is the page i finished last; you can tell because i didnt put the pictures in. why didnt i put the pics in as i went? well i felt inspiration strike and i couldnt find my pack pf photos!

this layout has some bazzill cardstock as a background, and some stamping to embellish. i put flourishes in opposite corners and i inked the egdes all around. then i arranged my photo spots and flowers. the journaling spot on the left page went in last. if it seems a little plain to you, i agree! i wanna try to use some of thos die cuts, but havent figured out what im going to do yet. you'll probably see it when the whole album is done :)

and next we have a layout that was inspired by a 12x12 that my mom did! i didnt realize until another customer pointed it out, but i do a loooooooot of circles in my layouts! i'm not sure why; it just feels right...anyhoo! can you see the teal polkadot paper? thats the backside of another stripe paper. i thought that the vine paper had a nice stripe feel so rather than adding a second stripe, i flipped the paper over to use the dots! (dots are another version of my circle obsession!)

if any of you are looking for an affordable circle cutting solution, you should pick up a compass (you know, those things from geometry class!!) you can make size circle up to 12 or 13 inches. what i do is select my circle size, trace on the backside of my paper, cut with scissors (mine are spring action) and scrape the edge to cover up the boo boos. ooh and some ink too!

this layout is ok...i cant figure out what it needs...what do you think?

more circles! i borrowed the background for this one too but the photo layout is totally original! the rubon is from basic grey and it goes so perfectly!!! i had it in my stash for about 2 years and decided to use it because i recently learned that rubons have a shelf life!!! im not sure exactly how long it is, i magine it varies from brand to brand, but its not forever! so break out those rubons and put um to use!

the last stop on our journey: the first page! this is a layout i have done 1683523598989 times, but i cant stop! have you ever created a page that was so perfect you had to make more and more and more?? thats this one for me! my mom seems to think it needs more flowers to be finished... what do you think? maybe a title? i'll most likely do hidden journaling on the back of the page (i have messy handwriting so this works great for me!)

these photos are from when my baby girl was only a month old! she was so little and perfect! well, she's still perfect but not as little! she turns 5 this month :)

my dad really wants to take her hiking one of these days...we just have to wait for good weather! believe me, when we do go, i'm taking oooooodles of pictures!

hand batik eggs!

i have pictures from the egg class!!!

this class taught the art of batiking using goose eggs! batik is a wax-resist dyeing technique used on textile. our wonderful friend, Kent, instructed these students on how to make beautiful works of art like his. Kent uses huge ostrich eggs for his custom works, but for this class he used a goose egg.

pysanky is the art of Ukrainian egg decorating using the betik method of dyeing. traditionally the symbols have deep religious meanings believed to help rid the world of evil,protect households and celebrate abundant harvests and prosperous years. In manycultures around the world, the egg is recognized as a revered symbol of life.

he started off the class by having the students draw their designs onto the egg using a pencil. he also had books showing different designs they could create to help inspire them.

once their design was completed, they would draw over the design with wax to prepare for the dyeing process.

and then the dyeing takes place!

and voila! a pysanka! (pysanka is a Ukrainian Easter egg)

looks kinda messy huh? after class, Kent told us that he got extra kits for us to do our own! so we gotta call him up so we can get down and dirty too!

these eggs look so lovely! i was sad not to be able to stay for class (i had to go watch my puppy) but im soo excited to do one of my own!

i just cant decide what design i'd like to do...perhaps somethings floral? i'm loving this one:

and in other news....we have a crop coming up this friday!!! i havent had a lot of time to scrap lately, so i really look forward to our crops. now that my scrap time is restricted, i try to plan better for these crops so that i can be as productive as possible.

what i'll do is plan to work on a specific project. for example: i'm working on an 8x8 book for my dog daphne.

1) i've already chosen my printed papers and i bought more than enough cardstock to last the whole album.

2) i have the album i'm going to put it in.

3) i have some of the pictures that i want to use.

4) tonight when i get home, i'm going to choose the ribbon that coordinates with my color scheme

5) i keep an idea book handy in case i run out of ideas

so all i have to do is put it together! i have 6 hours on friday night to complete an 8x8 album...think i can do it? i sure hope so! i'll show you pictures after friday!

paper bag album - your wish is my command!

here is the paper bag album, as you requested in that spiffy little poll i made last month! take a look!

as you may know, i tend to march to the beat of my own drum, so this album is a little different from other paper bag albums you may have seen. my album has pictures from my most recent trip to the honolulu zoo so i decided to call it "not just creatures ...exploring the honolulu zoo" i am soooo loving giant flowers right now! each students a giant flower for their album and use of the cricut to cut their title.

this was my first time making a paper bag album, it was really fun! its a nice way to used up scraps too

i still wanna go back and dirty the edges, but i cant decide between using paint or ink...decisions decisions!

i was able to fit a lot of pictures in here; i counted 17! 2 of them were 5x7 and i have a 5 1/2 x 10 in there too! so just imagine if you put all tiny wallets in there; thats a lot of pics!

i have the sample in store, feel free to stop by and take a peek!

in this class we will be doing inking, embossing, die cutting, stapling, and all kinds of fun stuff!

omg! blogger has been really weird lately! i have been trying for 2 days to get on here and update something but argh!!! it wasn't letting me! so sorry about that, but heres youre update!

first things first! the winner of our No Doubt contest was Niya! i hope she had a really good time at the concert this past wednesday! Congrats Niya!!!

as for the rest of my post....remember how i gave you a tour of my crop bag? well...these are the projects i worked on using all the material you saw! all that paper ribbon and fun other stuff!

these layouts are just a few from what i did that night, as the rest are not as near done as these are. the night of that particular crop, i just glued down pictures, ribboned them and maybe stuck a flourish or die-cut on there. the next day off i had, i spent putting flowers on and choosing titles. for me, the flower/title part is the longest process and i save that part for when i get home so i can feel like accomplished something at the crop! on to the pictures!

all of these photos are from my senior year of high school. these first 2 layouts are from a group project in sociology class. we had to make a PSA commercial using only photo stills and voice over. our subject was something like divorce and its effect on children. i want to keep these 2 layouts on the simple side because the journaling will take up most of the page.

it was a really fun project! i cant wait to finish these layouts!

this page is alllllllmost done. i just need to put a journaling block in that upper-left blank spot and a flower on the pointy end of that flourish. i cant figure out the flower part yet...i know i want it to be red, but i cant decide if i want a cluster of flowers or one giant one...

the photos are from one random day at school. we never took pictures for a particular reason, we just loved to goof around and document it!

this next layout may be a surprise because its a layout about one of my guy friends, but it has a bunch of flowers on it! what??? flowers are girly!!! hehehe, i know flowers are girly! but the way i see it: this is my scrapbook, i like flowers, in they go!

meet john. he is a really goofy character that can turn your frown upside down by making this face:

this layout is a little bittersweet for me. i really love the colors, the pictures, the paper, the flowers and the font of the title, but it takes me back to the day these pictures were taken.

this day was the last day that i ever saw my old boyfriend, chris. he moved to texas the day after these were taken and that was almost 3 years ago. :( we've stayed friends, but i still miss him.

this layout was one of the first i ever made...which means i've been scrappin for almost 3 years! woo hoo!

this is the first version of this layout. i made a second one for another album. why? this version is supposed to be about my senior portraits and how much fun it was to take them. the second version is more about the dress i wore, and how its the best dress i have ever owned.

this layout feels kinda boring to me. i want to add something to it, but i have no idea what is missing...what do you think?

this is another boring one for me. i love the photos, but i am not sure how to compliment them. let me know if you have any ideas for this one, cuz i am STUMPED!

this is a reeeeeally simple layout. one flower. a title. two pictures. what more can be said about blue bangs? ok a little more than that. like i dyed my hair purple for spirit week at school, but it turned out blue instead...i still liked it! i might just make it a hidden journaling apot on the back of the page.

i'm not sure what i would journal about in this layout. we went to ala moana. i guess this is another time that we just goofed around and documented it!

this is the last layout i have for you today. one day, i did my hair with a curling iron, got dressed for work and decided to pick up my bass for a little bit. i felt like such a rock star, i had to take a picture. one day, my hair will get long enough to style like this. who knows...i may just update my rock star profile!
these layouts were all really quick for me. i like to coordinate the colors in the pictures to the colors in the papers. i knew that most of my high school photos sported lots of blacks, browns and reds so i just grabbed a bunch of paper from my stash that qualified! after that i pulled out ribbons that met the same requirements and my bag was ready to go!

we have another crop tomorrow night, and if you're lucky, i will take more pictures! i just cant decide what to work on! i have more senior pictures...maybe i'll do that! operation using stash is in effect! see you later!

last nights cupcake class

last night (friday 8/7) was the giant cupcake album class and i was able to sign up for it! i'm not insanely cupcake crazy or anything, but dang is this album sweet!!! i wasnt able to finish last night (nor were the other ladies) but here's what i got done!

the album is about 9x8 and is designed and cut by my dad, the laser expert! i decided to go with a different paper for the outside cuz i really love the way the "chocolate" reads on the spine!

the class was a total of 2 hours and we weren't able to do a lot of embellishing, but the point of this particular class was to learn the style of binding. there were papers included for embellishing later though!

you can see in the picture i still have sanding to do! sanding down the edge of my chipboard books has to be my least favorite part. it just seems to take forever! brenda, one of the ladies in class, did point out that i could just trim my paper smaller than the chipboard and cover up the extra space with paint or ink, so i gotta try that one day!

here was my first time using martha stewarts "drippy goo" punch. just looking at the punch, i thought it was alright...but the moment i punched out this chocolately paper i realized that it was the BEST THING EVER! i love this punch! i'll probably use it a lot in this book!

the next page was fun too. i cut out my printed paper with the giant accucut scalloped circle and centered it on the two pages.

the next page is really really plain! its just cardstock right now...i havent yet figured out how to embellish this page. i kinda have a plan for the other pages so maybe once i finish those something will come to me?

here's a close up of the scallop punch. im not sure how much i like this punch overall...

the last page shows a really great color combo. its a nice creamy color with tiffany blue. did you know that tiffany blue is actually robin's egg blue? they trademarked it as there own "tiffany blue" and it is a protected pantone color. who knew you could get a color trademark??

this scallop punch has to be my favorite. its the fiskars "threading water" punch:
and here you will see the inside of the back cover. i still have a loooooot of sanding to do! i hope to finish this album soon so i can show you! i'm gonna do my best not to ink it up all over; it uses the doodlebug cupcake line and its really cute when its clean!

ok! if you couldnt guess what my next post was supposed to be about, here's the answer: my stash! im not sure how many of you have been curious about what my collection of craft junk looks like, but here it is! its not very organized because im still looking for that perfect organizational system, but for now, it sort of works!

first we have my paper section. i have 2 columns of stackable trays that are filled with paper. the left column is halloween and christmas themed with one or two DCWV paper stacks. the right column is sort of organized by vendor. i have american crafts in one tray, my minds eye is two trays, about 3 misc trays and the rest are all basic grey broken down by collection. collecting basic grey should be a sickness, cuz i got it bad!

the plastic drawers on the far right organize my small collection of 8.5 by 11 cardstock and other random things like bling, fibers, a few rubons and some scraps. the two smaller drawers on the top hold my tiny inkpads.

here we have one of my desks. when i got this desk, it was supposed to be for my laptop and other non-scrap stuff, but the scrappy-ness took over! the chest on the top holds my stash of buttons. its actually a hardware organizer from lowes that i got for $10! i also keep my perfume on here and there are some of my clear stamps on the right side in cd cases.

and here we have my bookshelf! it is my favorite piece of furniture in my room right now. i got it at target a few weeks ago and it is so beautiful! the bottom shelf is for my 12x12 scrapbooks; then above that shelf are the 8x8s and a couple 6x6s; middle shelf holds some mini albums and a few mass market books; next are my yearbooks, poetry books, hymnal, bible and art books; top shelf holds harry potter 2-6 and a few literture books.

getting this book shelf really helped in my organization because before this, i had no where to keep my scrapbooks! my reading books were boxed up in the garage and attic.

here we have desk #2. its supposed to be my crafting desk, but i have discovered that i dont scrap on it, i mostly scrap on the living room floor or dining table. so for now it stores stuff! the eiffel tower is from target, it serves no purpose but to be pretty! next to the eiffel tower is my desk-top organizer that holds scissors and other misc tools that i pretty much never use!

the small paper rack on the left holds paper for my "current projects" and everything else on the top of this desk is pretty much junk i havent organized into place yet!

here you can see my desk-top organizer again, along with a shadow box i have yet to make and a wire thing that hangs on the wall. the "stuff" in the top shelf are actually some button flowers i've made that havent a home yet and the second shelf houses a round green-ish purse that i dont know how to finish.

this is the undercarriage of my second desk. the giant plastic bin stores my half-finished mini albums; the white puffy bag is stuffing for a pillow i was going to make; the two blue-topped bins hold my flowers (bottom = paper flowers, top = fabric flowers) and the grey thing on the side is the sewing machine i got for christmas last year.

this is another desk-top organizer that holds assorted stuff. i have my big clear stamps and alpha stickers in the back; mini clipboard and camera bag on the left, comb binding and shaggy toys in the middle; and sizzlits dies on the right.

when looking at the organizer from the front, there is a drawer that pulls out. i keep ribbon spools and a few more rubons inside. i dont really use this drawer much, though i could use the real estate!

thats my stash! it may not seem really giant, but i think its a bit much for how productive i am. one day i'll have it organized perfectly and when i do, i'll be sure to create a new post about it. i've been doing lots of cleaning lately cuz we've lived in this house for 11 years and that equals lots of junk!

this week i had an extra day off, and it was lovely! i went to the zoo, the aquarium and all around waikiki on one day...

the next day was for chilling, watching movies and eating french fries...

and this sunday i went hiking on aiea loop trail!

i'm gonna start this post off with a trip through my crop bag. fun huh??? last saturday was our most recent crop and i still haven't unpacked my bag yet. this bag is just like the rest of my scrappy stuff at home: a complete un-organized mess. here we go!

first, this is what i see when i look into my crop bag. its not a very huge bag because i dont like to haul my whole stash when i crop. i can fit a chunky stack of paper, some ink and whatever embellishments.

and next we have the stack of paper i grabbed before i left my house. i mostly selected my papers at random, but i kept in mind that the photos i was gonna scrap had a lot of reds and browns. i like to match my paper to my photos because the colors in the paper will bring out the colors in my photos. i happened to have lots of basic grey in this stack :)

and here are the random embellishments to go with my random papers. i believe they are all die cut titles from My Mind's Eye, as well as some of their rubons. i only ended up using one die cut title because the rest didn't match what i was doing that night. i think this pile of stuff was much more random than my paper.
omg! the ribbon! my favorite part!!! i tell people all the time how much i love ribbon. i love ribbon so much that i will buy tons of it and display it in jars in my room so that everyone who comes to see me will see how much i love ribbon. whats the problem with that? I NEVER USE IT! its not that i dont want to, its just that its soooooo hard to cut up something so pretty!!! luckily, i spent about 20 minutes going through my ribbon stash to select pretty ribbons that i swore i would cut up and use! and i did! i used a lot actually...and i still have more to do! see that chunky red one? i need it in order to finish this page ive been owrking on...

and here is a pic of my favorite tool ever, the edge scraper. you slip your paper into that crack and run the tool up and down the edge of your paper to rough up the edges. i have used this bad boy so hard that i have to throw it away :( theres a little blade in between the 2 plastic pieces and i noticed that the blade chipped away. thats alright, i've gotten a new one!
my embossing folders. they are from cuttlebug, but i use them in my big shot. i have used them for pretty much everything but cards. my favorite thing to do with them is to emboss the image on a plain solid cardstock and ink it with paint, chalk or ink. when i was working on a halloween project, i embossed the haunted house folder on a piece of metal and colored it with black paint. IT CAME OUT SOOO COOL!! i just might show you one day :)
and the last item in my crop bag is my nail file. this is really a scrappy girl's best friend! rather than using a "scrapper's sanding block" i use a walmart mail file. what's the difference? about $4. i got this mail file in a 2-pack for one dollar. plus its pretty!

so that was my crop bag. when i finish the pages i worked on, i'll post them so you can see :)

there's no surprise

hey do you remember those marth border punches i was telling you about??? i know you do! well guess what? THEY CAME IN FINALLY!!!! when i saw that box, i about died with excitement!!! i looooooooooooooved these new punches from the moment i saw them in my email a few months ago and now that they are finally here i am so eager to use them on everything!! check um out!

first we have the borders and corners that work together. the corner punch and the border punch are sold separately. when you purchase one of these punches, i'll go ahead and give you a demo so you wont be confused when you go home and play!

this lacey loopy number is so cute! its designed to be a christmas edger, but i say that it would be so adorable for a little girls page! it would also make a lovely wedding page or a fabulous baby card!

and the snow flurry set is so beautiful! i love how intricate the little flakes are! imagine how delicious this frost will look when its punched out on a diamond bling paper!

and we have my personal favorite, the spider web!!! i bought myself this punch as soon as it came outta the box and believe me, i already tried it out! i punched out an entire 12x12 with this punch and it looks so pretty! i know that sounds kinda weird, but the only 12x12 cardstock i had around was a really pale lavendar. i just figured, why not? its just practice anyhoo!!! so went on my merry way, punching my paper! i think because it was such an elegant color, it made it look more lacey and pretty than gross and spidery. i can show you when you come in!
so those were the corner & border punches, here are the new borders! the great thing about these new border punches is that they fold up to stand up by themselves and they store better!

i love these little mice! they'd be great for a kitty page!
the pumpkins are cool! i've never gone to a pumpkin patch before, but maybe one day i'll hit a real one in the mainland! if you punch out a bunch of these in different oranges and layer them, it makes for a very beautiful pumpkin patch!
the spooky tombstones! i love pretty much anything halloween and i believe it's also martha's favorite holiday (who knew??) so this punch is going to make a great addition to my collection!
next we have the infamous drippy goo punch! i have seen sooo many cute samples with this punch, its unbelievable! you can use it as an icky border for a page; edge your goodie-bag toppers, deck-out the edge of a scary holiday card and so much more! i've also seen it used as frosting on a cake, drippy ice cream and as candy!

i am loving this forest punch! this is another one that i like to make layers with. punch it out with a bunch of greens and you can frost the tip with a white pen or a shimmery white inkpad.
i'm not sure what it is about this frosty villiage border that i love so much! maybe its the tiny houses or that little church, whatever it is, i cant resist!
and finally we have the icicle punch! it looks so beautiful punched out with a shimmery white vellum! but i've also noticed that it makes great grass! yet again, i punch it out in different greens and layer them for a really full look. i've even seen it used as frankenstein hair! the possibilities really are endless!

and here we have a couple more punches! one is a corner punch with bats! and the other is a beautiful snowflake shape punch!

today is monday the 20th of july, and it surely is a gorgeous day outside!!! the sun is shining and the clouds are fluffy and white, so its a great day to shop at Scrapbook Heaven :)

ive got a feeling

hi! how are you? good? thats good! how many of you are familiar with eggsactly? A friend of ours makes these gorgeous eggs and he posts them on his website. He does them to order, and he works very closely with the customer so that each egg is deeply personal and one of a kind.

using all kinds of eggs, from goose to ostrich he dies each egg by hand! depending on the design, these eggs can take anywhere from 3 to 80 hours of labor! so why am i telling you about these eggs? well we were lucky enough to get our friend to teach an egg class here at the store! we are currently putting our August schedule together, so be on the lookout for that email!

so what else is up? its raining....and rain is kinda sad....but if you think about it, the rain is good because then all the beautiful flora and fauna that make our aina so great get watered and nourished! gosh...lets not talk about the weather, thats a topic reserved for small talk between aquaintances! and lets face it, we're more than that!!!

today is saturday, and i have a crop tonight! it feels like forever since we've had one! crops are one of my favorite things to do here at Scrapbook Heaven because not only do you get to finish your scrappy projects, but it gives me a chance to hang out with you guys and check out your style one and one!

we still have a couple of seats left, so let me know if you wanna come! its $5 and its from 6pm to midnight.

today is wednesday the 15th of july and i am really loving today! i'm not sure what it is, maybe there's paper in the air.... a customer came in yesterday and gave me an overwhelming desire to organize my scrappy stuff. i'm not sure how many of you are in the same boat, but i can never spend enough time organzing my scrappy stuff!

it seems that as soon as i get it the way i like it, it needs to be redone for one reason or another. how many of you have a craft room??? i am soooo jealous!! one day, when i have a huge house of my own, i am going to have 1. a walk in closet (cuz what girl doesnt need one?) and 2. a MASSIVE MASSIVE CRAFT ROOM!!! but until then, i have to figure out how to control my hobby...any tips?

also, a reminder that this class coming up on the 24th of this month:

it is the basic grey page of the month kit that includes paper, embellishments and instructions. the kit is available, so if you dont want to attend class, then you can take a kit home!

this month's kit uses paper from the june bug collection, which is a double sided collection that features lots of fun bright colors! the kit also includes a chipboard alphabet sticker set, a pack of buttons, rubons and and cardstock stickers!

hi! how was your holiday? good? mine was alright i guess...i ended up going to the beach which i havent done for a while and got some funny pictures out of it! little known fact about me: i have super kinky hawaiian hair. when i went in the water it got wet and dried to its natural curly curly state. the wind was blowing and made for some really crazy looking pics, and of course that means i'll have to make a crazy scrappy page about it right????

in other news...we recently got through seeing the new ek, martha, and inkadinkado stuff! i will be honest, there was not tons and tons and tons of stuff, but hey thats still good for our pocket books right? and to be fair, it was all really nice stuff!

martha stewart has come out with some new border punches that coordinate with a corner punch so you can make your own lace cut papers! so far she just has 4 different designs: 1 halloween, 1 christmas, and 2 that are everyday. she has also redesigned her punches to store better! if you've ever seen martha's border punches, you'd know that they are sort of funky looking and dont stand up on their own which makes it difficult to store. now, the sides snap shut so they arent as wide and can stand up by themselves! its kind of hard to explain how they work, so i guess that means you'll have to come see for yourselves when we get them ;)

ek success has a bunch of new punches for halloween and christmas and they also have some really cute stickers too! did you know that ek's new punches store flat? they have a lock so that they lay flat and store easy. they have new sizes in these nifty little punches! they have teeny little ones that have 1/2 inch punch outs and they have whale of a punch sizes that are up to 3 inches!

inkadinkado has a bunch of new clear stamps and a few wood stamps! inkadinkado has to be one of my favorite stamp companies, especially since they have clear and wood stamps, and i loooove that they always have such gorgeous designs! we got halloween and christmas along with a some everyday stuff and a few thanksgiving...

i will post when we get all these goodies, so be on the lookout for that!

update on our epic demo tool: we should be getting it next week sometime, it's scheduled to arrive on wednesday so i'll be crossing my fingers for that. i will post here when we get it to let you know when we're gonna start demoing it!

ok i know its 4 oclock and i said 2 or 3, but um....too bad ;)

here is my finished project. like how it matches my room colors? yup...i designed it that way!

here's a close up of the flower (i loooove giant flowers!) i used a furniture tac as the center and had that fancy washer looking thing in my stash.

and a close up of the lace, another treasure dug up from my stash!!
the sides are two 5x7s that i left simple with a stamp, ribbon and some "white space"
this was the first time i used this bird cage stamp. ive decided that i cant live without it and it is so deeply fabulous!

if you're wondering what the quote says, its latin and my absolute favorite mantra. it means "Art is long, life is short."

i took the time to redo our ribbon wall. it looks sooooo much nicer now! did i mention i love ribbon?

here is the cake/pie box die i was telling you about.

and the envelope die and card die i loooove so much! i bought it yesterday, but havent had time to play with it yet...i have an idea of what i wanna do with it, so we shall see what i come up with!

the die on the left is a mini accordion album die. the die on the right is a scalloped purse box die.

hey! im gonna do a drive by post today. i will post pictures later today or tomorrow.

we just got in a BUNCH of new stuff! basic grey has come out with 2 new lines: june bug and lemonade! we got all of the papers for both lines (each one is deeply fabulous) and a few embellishments for both. we also got the card kit for lemonade, i am soooooooo loving the BG card kits! check out www.basicgrey.com for images.

good afternoon starshine! the earth says hello!!! today is wednesday and it is a lovely day! its been quite windy and the sun is shining! how are you doing? good i hope...

so i bought half the paint for my room. since my room is currently a really dark blue, i bought primer and had it tinted and i bought the paint for the ceiling. apparently you are supposed to paint the ceiling first, so guess what i'm going to be doing on my day off tomorrow!!! yup...im gonna paint :)

in other news, i just wanted to give you guys a reminder about our sticker sale! we only have a couple days left, it ends this friday!

and i finally uploaded the photos from last friday's class!!! it was a mommy and me class where we made a gift for dad for daddy day!

i love working with acrylic paint. its so dirty and wonderful :)

everytime i turn on our cricut, i discover a new little trick it can do! we have about 10 cartridges and they each do some really neat stuff. this is from the "stretch your imagination" cartridge:

i know its nothing ultra fancy with goobers coming out, but hey i like it! this card was cut in two pieces; the turtle and card base are one and the blue wave frame is the other. i still wanna put more into this card, but i'm gonna figure that out later!

i ended up making a couple of the cards that were in our card class, and this card was the first time i had ever used the kraft colored cardstock! at first i didnt really get the big deal about this color, but after using it, i realized that sometimes this color is that little "something" thats missing! i could not have found a more perfect color to go with this card and im glad i tried it out!

here's the inside. it has a little pocket on the left to put goodies inside! its a new accucut that we have that is great to use as a single card or even better for invitations! the pocket is perfect for rsvp, directions, registration...you name it!

lets see...what else is going on...i'm redoing my bedroom. why is that relavant roxie? THIS IS A SCRAPPY BLOG!!! yeah i know i know! gimme a chance to explain myself jeez!!!!

its scrappy related because i based the color scheme off a piece of paper!

i love doing home decor with my scrappy stuff, so im going to use these colors to create the decor that will go in my room. i know you guys remember that book i made with these colors! it had that giant cream flower on it, that is going to be an element in my decor. thats how im going to use the pretty papers and ribbons.

once i made my swatch out of cardstocks, i took it to home depot and picked out the color of paint to match. i chose to go with the hazel, because blue is a soothing color and i felt that the green might be a little to harsh for an entire wall, let alone all four walls!

i got my paint sample and painted a section of my wall to make sure i love the color and BINGO! it was perfect! now today after work, i am going back to home depot to pick up the primer and paint!

i told you that my sister is coming home and since she will be staying the craft room, i had to move it back into my room (i am up to my eyeballs in crafty scrappy stuff!) since i have so much stuff in my room, im going to do 2 walls at a time. i will be doing before and after shots (cuz thats really the best part right?) oh yeah and the ceiling. i heard you are supposed to do that part first.

i soooooo cant wait to get started! have a great monday guys!

hey! sorry its been so long! a whole week....wow! any hoo...here's whats going on:

tonight is the mommy and me class for father's day. we'll be making a picture frame key hanger for daddy! we have two class sessions booked and both are filled, but if you still wanna take this class, we can book you a custom class! there is no additional cost to make a custom class, all you do is pay the $20 class fee and pick an available date! feel free to give us a call, we can take visa and mastercard over the phone!

the next class we have is a card class this sunday. we still have a few seats available, so if you feel crafty this weekend come by and take this class! in this class we will be making 8 summery cards that can be customized for any occasion! we will be incorporating the cricut in this class so if you have one and would like to learn how to use it, this class will be a great opportunity for you!

and tomorrow we have one of our fabulous crops! this crop is already full, but i wanted to let you guys know that it will be our last crop until august. we have some family flying home for the summer so we'll be taking a small break from those, but keep your eyes peeled for the announcement of our august crops!

as you may know, i've been working on the website. its not perfect yet, but it has some function! my most recent update to it was the class schedule. when you go to our home page, the left side of the page has the link to our class schedule. when you click it there is a new page with a tiny calendar on it. if you click the tiny calendar, i blows up on a new page and you can see all the dates for our classes this month!

i was really proud of that page because i wasnt sure how i was going to display the classes, but then a stroke of genius and voila!

heres the update i promised!!! get ready cuz i got lots of pictures!!! lets start off with the new stuff we got in yesterday: my minds eye!!!

my minds eye released 3 new collections and we have all 3! Breaking Free is a very fun, summery collection that is also great to use year round!

Pretty Please is the prefect collection for the girliest girl!

then there is Andrea Victoria, a collection so elegant, it will have you reaching for a ballgown in no time!

and we cant leave out the accessories!!! we have tons of die cuts, transparencies and rubons!

imaginisce has done it again! they came out with an adorable new line of paper called "wild things!" i took one look at these papers and boy did i feel like going to the zoo!

what better reason to go to the zoo than to scrapbook it with cute paper? (stamps too!)

now that thats all done and out of the way...wanna see my current project? here we go!

remember i told you about that board i have in my room? its a foam core board that i covered with paper and put pictures of the things that inspire me. i have decided that i want to make a mini book version of it!

the binder part is a catalog that we got a while ago, it measures about 9x9. i took a zoomed in picture of the flower cuz i just love the giant-ness of it! its the perfect color and it feels so pretty when you touch it :)

and the inside cover was fun too! once i trimmed the cardstock down to size i embossed a huge corner stamp on it. you stamp with versamark embossing ink, then put clear embossing powder on top and heat set it. when it melts, it will be clear and glossy but it does make the color of your cardstock a few shades darker.

after the embossing, i glued it down to the book and wrapped the cover with 2 ribbons and tied them in the front with a knot. (i like knots better than bows)

here is my first page. none of my pages will have photos until i finish the book cuz i havent decided how to arrange the "categories of inspiration" i copied this layout from the dirty class that i taught recently. it is sort of a mini version of a layout that mama made and i really liked it. the circle paper is velvet and its like heaven to touch!

the second page also called inspiration from my class project :) i loooooove these colors so much! they go so well together! i want to redo my bedroom in these colors but that may take a while.

i made a matchbook brag book recently and it got me jones-ing for more matchbooks! they are so much fun to make and they are easy to finish. i decided to make a matchbook in my album! so i have a mini book in a mini book! how cool is that? a book in a book. if only i could do a book in a book in a book....

heres a close up shot to show you the detail of that embossing. have any of you heard of tim holtz's distress powder? it looks like ambossing powder but its not. you use it just like you would embossing powder, but when it melts, it doesnt become glossy. its sort of matte and it feels like sand paper.

and showing off my new clock stamp. i love love love this stamp and have been looking for it for ages!!! we have more on order, so let me know if youd like one.

i left the matchbook to only have 4 pages, this way it wont be too heavy and weight down the page. i ripped just the top of the page to give it a vintage book feel.

and of course the many more pages to go. some of them are half pages so it will be like those farm doors where the top and bottom open separately... (i would love to have one of those doors in my dream home, it would lead to the backyard)

and thats my update for you! again i am so sorry for leaving you bored for an entire week :( but here i am! i'll try to be better this week!!!

DIRTY DIRTY

good morning starshine, the earth says hello! its a beautiful aloha friday and i am loving it! im so sorry i havent been on here sooner, but hey i am here now!

as you may know, we closed on mothers day and i wanna share what we did!

first we went to the mililani cemetery to visit daddy's parents. we wanted to eat our breakfast out there with them, but we were too hungry and ate earlier. after our visit we started our trip around the island! first we stopped at the bead gallery and i got a chance to pick up supplies for a class im taking with them. from there we were off!

i took this pic right outside the entrance to sea life park. i have always loved seeing this island, even when i was a little girl. at first, i had no idea why it was called rabbit island. ;) after here, we stopped by a place in time to say hello to our kailua scrappy friends. its always nice to see them!

we ended up back home at around 3pm and all of us crashed for a 3 hour nap!

it was a lovely mother's day. technically im a fur-momma now so i got to celebrate too!!

on another note, have any of you heard of timtam? its this chocolate biscuit with two layers of chocolate malted biscuit with chocolate cream in the middle and covered in more chocolate. its a like a cookie and it tastes really good!!! anyhoo.... why am i talking about them?

the other night at our crop, a couple of ladies did what is called the timtam slam.

its where you bite off each end of the timtam and use it like a straw in a hot beverage. the hot liquid melts all the chocolate in your mouth and it feels soooo good!

but the trick is to eat it before it falls into your drink! if you wanna try them, stop by and pick up a coupon from us!

its aloha friday! no work till monday...a dooby doo, doo doo doo dooby doo...... i think those are the right lyrics, but the words arent fitting to me exactly cuz i gotta work tomorrow too!

tonight is the "Gift for Mom" class. for this class, we will have kids make a gift for their moms, but mom cant see the gift until mothers day! this is the first time we're doing a class like this, and i think its gonna be great! we are going to do another class like this for father's day too.

i finally have pictures from National Scrapbook Day! for NSD, we had a scavenger hunt and took everyone's picture when they finished. heres a few, take a peek:

i got a chance to update the class schedule for may (sorry it took me a whole week, idk why i didnt check that!) but if you see the "dirty elegance" thats my class! it was a series i started a couple years ago but havent been able to re-ignite until now! in this class, i use different distressing techiniques to make a scrapbook page or two. for this month's class, i am using 5 sheets of printed paper and 6 sheets of cardstock to make a bunch of different things including 2 8x8 layouts, a matchbook bragbook, a card and a couple more goodies! here is a sneak peek at some of the ingredients.

this class is on friday may 15th from 6:30pm.

i have one more thing before i get going and its a little off topic but still fun! i want you to meet my new best friend, Shaggy!

he is such a cutey! he is chihuahua with a little bit of dachshund. you can really see the dachshund in his nosey! so far he's been sleeping a lot, and he is such a well behaved little boy.

hello! today is tuesday (aka DOUBLE PUNCH TUESDAY!!!) and i have been one heck of a busy little worker bee!

yeah see, that picture up there proves it!! :) so what have i been busy doing? well....you know how we love cardstock right? right! i went through our bazzill swatch book and decided to get some new colors! we've never really re-vamped our selection of bazzill, but now we are! so far, we are bringing in over 15 new colors! including these:

turquoise mist

patina

navajo

kachina

i havent had a chance to go through the neutrals yet, but im going to see about some new browns and creams and then look into black and white in different textures. if any of you have a special request for colors, let us know! or if you'd like to look at our swatches and place a bulk order for invites, favors or just to have, feel free to let us know when you stop by Scrapbook Heaven!

good morning starshine! the earth says hello! ok, well its not morning anymore but you get the point! its monday at 2pm and i am still recovering from the awesome weekend we had!

this past saturday was national scrapbook day and we had a scavenger hunt game to celebrate! we also had a day time crop to go with our regular night crop. this was the first day crop that we've had, and i'd say that it was a success! we'll be letting you know when we'll do that again, so if you wanna day crop, be on the lookout for that!

have you heard of copics? those are these nifty little pens that are used by comic book creators to color in the drawn images. im not sure when or how, but now these pens are being used by stampers to color in their stamped images.

keep in mind, i have not used one of these pens before and i dont know anything about them, but the reason why i am posting about them is because i want to start playing with them! i'm going to try and see if i can pick some up today and get started with them. the only thing i know about these pens is that they can get quite costly. so, if you play with these bad boys, i'd love to hear your input about them! why you like them, why you dont, cool tricks and anything you can think of. i'll let you know how it goes!

before i get into the fun pictures, let me tell you a story about how last evening went...

when i got home last night, i was really ono for some vegetarian chili. being that i had purchased the ingredients the night before, i was fully prepared to make some. i finished chopping all the usual vegetables that i put in it but this time i wantedto try it with some jalepeno in it. i had one small pepper and started chopping it up.

now, i know that you NEVER touch your face after you prepare jalepeno pepper unless you thouroughly wash and dry your hands. so knowing this, i used the very bottom bottom of my palm to rub my slightly itchy eye. a few minutes later, the skin next to my eye is getting tingly, so i walk to the bathroom to try and wash it out. i wash my hands with soap and water, then proceed to rub my eye.

BIG MISTAKE! i must not have washed my hands well enough cuz now my eye is on FIRE!!! then i think, "ok, i should take out my contacts to relieve myself" OMG!!! now both my eyes are dying!!!! even though its super painful, i manage to take them out and my eyes get better after a few minutes.

yeah. my fun evening....i felt so dumb.....ok! now on to the fun stuff!

first of all, i know you remember that mini album i made with the list of things i wanna do before i die. i updated it and i wanna show you! this is what my finished cover looks like:

that ribbon weaving is one of my favorite ways to use ribbon because it adds so much texture and dimension at the same time. next i have one of the inside pages to show you. in case you cant tell, this page says "date a HOT fireman"

this next item was something one of our customers made for me for my birthday. one day, she randomly asked me for my favorite colors and i told her that they were black and white. a little while later, she walks in and plops this on the counter!
some of it looks a little blurry cuz i had to use a scanner (today i have off and the camera is at the store) it is so beautiful and i have no idea what i should put in it...i'm thinking about storing some ribbon in it for now..

speaking of ribbon, i wanted to show you another cool way to use ribbon on a page. this page is a 6x6 for a mini album. i used a double sided tape to make the pleats and stapled them down instead of sewing it.

if you try this technique with a printed ribbon, it makes for interesting results.

and since today was my day off, i decided to pay a visit to our friends at the bead gallery! i bought my mom a mothers day gift and i spent most of the early afternoon making these:

they are a pair of earrings made from swarovski (i think thats how its spelled) crystals and silver wire and chains. all in all, it took me -with help from the bead girl- an hour to design and create. not bad huh? i love dangly earrings and i love greys...they look so elegant! thanks aga jamie! dont forget to check out their new blog, i helped them put it together!

one way to say those three words

hey! sorry its taken me so long to post. i've had a very trying morning and lets not get into details...onto the fun stuff!

we got in a small order that included bazzill cardstock (i love me some bazzill!) and a couple new things! these three stamps sets are from autumn leaves and we ordered them way back in january at CHA and they finally came in!

this first one is a beautiful flourish set that would go perfectly with any card or layout. i love flourishes so much, i have way way way too many flourish stamps! sometimes a flourish is that one final touch to really MAKE your project.

these next two sets are really cool. they are more than meets the eye because you can stamp the different layers!

first, you stamp the outline. the outline is what you usually get with any other stamp. after you stamp the outline, you must use the second layer to stamp the first color. then you'll see that you are almost done, you just need the last layer which will complete your image. the last layer applies the second color and presto! you have a colored in monkey!

and we replenished our stock of bone folders! this bad boy has quickly become one of my favorite tools. as i've said before, i'm not much of a cardmaker, but i still use this guy everytime i scrap.

bone folders are especially great to use when you are working with chipboard. if you cover a large piece of chipboard with paper, you can use a bone folder to smooth out any wrinkles or bubbles! i also do a lot of distressing in my work, so when i wrinkle my paper for texture but dont want the dimension, all i do is get out my bone folder and smooth it out like an iron!

remember that mini album i made with the 50 things i wanna do before i die? well i have updated it and i wanna show you! but unfortunately you'll have to wait for tomorrow to see that post. i also want to show you what one of our customers made me for my birthday earlier this month, so you can look forward to that too!

the phone lines are back up! i have no idea what was going on, but for yesterday and most of the day before, the phone wasnt working and all one would get is the busy signal. the phone dude said that there was something wrong for the whole area so there were other people without phone as well. but yay! its all over and we can talk to you again! hooray!

so you know how we've been out of disney/wedding/travel stuff for like ever right? well.... we FINALLY got our shipment in! it seems like forever ago that we placed that order and i have no idea why it took so long to get here! either way, we are restocked on our disney/wedding/travel embellishments!

many of you may know this, but National Scrapbook Day is the first saturday of every May and this year it falls on May 2nd. first of all, i cant spill all the details, but i can tell you to lookout for an email from us that should help give you an idea of what we have planned! if you arent signed up for our email newsletter, send me an email and i can help fix that!

so how much do i look like mama in this pic??? before i couldnt see it, but in this picture: DANG!

ok, i know you guys totally dont care about looking at pictures of me, so i'm gonna post some pics of scrappy projects! these two projects were some gifts that i made for a couple of friends of mine.

this first one is an altered picture frame. i got the frame from walmart and the papers were a bunch of scraps from my giant scrap box. i like making these altered picture frames because 1) you use lots of scraps 2) there is no one way to make these and 3) they make really affordable gifts.

usually when i make these frames, i take out the glass so i can pop out my designs, but this time i left it in.

this one is an altered mail can. i got the can from target in california, and the papers from Scrapbook Heaven :)

i dont typically put this much bling, but the girl i gave it to totally looooooooves blingity bling. i had bling ribbon, bling thickers, rhinestones and metallic brads!

as you can see, we got some new stuff in! we got the basic grey lime rickey and wisteria collections! i am so loving the bright cool colors of lime rickey and the passionate purples of wisteria blow me away. i got mine already, so stop by Scrapbook Heaven and scoop up yours!

from 11am to 12pm we will have a stamping demo with Dandelion Designs

well, this post is all about the exciting stuff we have going on next week and i wanna make sure everyone gets a chance to read all about it! soooo..... on with the update:

tomorrow is friday april 3rd and also the day of the cards organizer class. i didnt get a chance to post the pictures up to show the project, and we also have a couple of seats left in that class for anyone who is itching to come to Scrapbook Heaven tomorrow night! it is beautifully crafted, and features the grace and charm of Basic Grey's Porcelain Collection. With the strawberry pinks, vanilla creams, pistacio greens and choclate browns, this is a project for anyone to crave (plus, there's no calories!)

this cards organizer is the perfect gift for mother's day! you could even alter it into a mini album too!

album in an hour! if you're like me, then you have a hard time finishing mini albums, but in this class, we'll show you how to turn 6 fabulous printed papers and transform them into a mini album that you'll be proud to call your own!

this is the teacher's sample:

she made her album to scrap about her newest boy who just made 6 months! this class is a little bit different from our other classes: this time you get to choose the paper! thats right, you get to choose the 6 papers that make your album!

this class is friday april 10th and starts at 6:30 pm. feel free to come by a little early to pick out your papers! what should you bring? a basic class kit is good...paper trimmer, scissors, adhesive. if you have other tools that you like to work with -like stamps, inks, punches etc.- feel free to bring those too!

quick update! remember that journey ticket giveaway we did? well the tickets were for the wednesday show and the winner sent us a picture from the meet and greet!

i had no idea that the singer was soooooo tiny! i guess that makes him more aerodynamic cuz that dude FLIES all over the stage!

then we had tickets to the thursday show (yesterday) we forgot the camera, but i was able to get a few shots on my phone! this first one is of my dad and me waiting for the show to start. i have so few pictures of us together, so luckily i caught him in a "picture taking mood"

and this last one is a picture of when the band first showed up on stage. i know its really dark, but hey, its not too shabby for a camera phone pic right?

i have a few more pictures on my phone, but they are still being emailed. and yeah you guessed it, i'm gonna scrapbook them!!! you know those handy word albums that we custom make? i'm gonna order one that sayd "journey" and scrap all these phone pics in them!

here at the store we also carry those recorder things that you can put in your scrapbook; They are by "Speakin Up" and they can record 30 seconds of sound! here's what they look like:

what im gonna do is record 30 seconds of my favorite journey song, and stick this recorder in the word album im gonna make! cool huh? i post updates of that project when i get around to it, it should be really awesome!

another thing you can do with this recorder is to record your child talking. it doesnt matter what they say, just a snippet of them speaking. add this element to your page and save it for when they grow up. in about 10-15 years, you will be so glad you did it! when my brother was little, my mom recorded him talking, played it back recently and it was so precious! when you scrapbook, you are capturing an image of a particular moment, but when you add these recorders, you add another dimension of time to preserve even more of your favorite memories! next time you stop by Scrapbook Heaven, be sure to ask about these "Speakin Up" recorders!

this friday we have the basic grey page of the month class and i totally forgot to post a pic of it! i know this one is small, but you'll see the sample when you stop by Scrapbook Heaven!

basic grey has a different page every month and each month uses different papers from each of their fabulous collections! we have signed up to do this page of the month program until the end of the year, and hopefully basic grey will do it again next year because it is a great way to get stuff done. not only does this class come in a kit, but instructions are included as well, so you can replicate the layout when you get home! if you like this layout, but are unable to make the class, you can take the kit and do it whenever you like! but hurry, seats are limited!

i myself bought one each month for this year! what i did though was save the papers and embellishments that it came with and used the instructions with other supplies from my stash!

hey! whats up? i wanted to stop by today, cuz i miss you guys tons and tons :) we had a crop this weekend that was loads of fun! it was on saturday (which is the day off for me) and started at 6pm.

once all the ladies got there, it was good times from the word go! i ended up working on a christmas mini album and a couple of layouts. dont worry, im not horribly behind or ahead on christmas, i just felt like using up the building stack of christmas stuff! i dont really do cards (trust me, my cards stink!) and i did a few christmas layouts, but i just love love love mini albums! of all the albums i have made, i never made a christmas one, so i got started on one.

during our crop, we had our first contest! we gave the ladies a pile of scrappy stuff (everyone got the same thing) then after one hour, whoever had the neatest project won a prize! we had smaller prizes for everyone else though. it was really tough being a judge, because i seriously loved every project turned in! there were 8 total and each one was so massively different that i couldnt help but lovelovelove all 8! we did end up choosing a winner, wait no, it was a tie so 2 winners! but everyone walked away with a little gift.

one thing i have noticed, our crops have started collecting snacks! we bring a few snacks and some of the regulars bring snacks and it becomes a party! so if ever you sign up for our crops, feel free to bring a snacky snack!

do any of you remember how we've been out of our disney stuff? well, we just got our order in! we sent in the order a while ago, like over a month, and we finally got it! so if you're looking for disney, then come check out our fresh stock. we also got in a few baby things as well as a few wedding stuffs. hopefully we can put another order together for some travel stuff, those things just fly out the door!

we're in the city of wonder

jam pics! we woke up at 4am on saturday! woah! yeah, the only two times a year i wake up that early is when i have to go to the jam.... so once we woke up and left, we met the Distress Mistress at Scrapbook Heaven and rode to the windward side.

we got there around 6:15 and started to unload our stuff in the rain :( its ok, nothing got damaged! and of course we had to goof around a little bit!

thats D, me and A. D sees no evil, i hear no evil and A speaks no evil.

we had lots of help from our friends (they kick total butt, i love these girls!)

Distress Mistress was awesome! she was so entertaining! i swear i could talk to her for DAYS!!! not to mention, she is my scrappy idol! she does the coolest stuff with paper, if you havent taken one of her classes yet, GET ON BOARD SISTER :)

and me. in the booth. showing people our things. we had lots of new things in our booth! we had a bunch of acrylic stamps that we special ordered just for the jam, a bunch of new paper from American Crafts with embellishments to match, American Crafts embossing powder, awesome awesome make and takes, some sale stuff, and lotslotslots more!

we had so much going on at our booth that we barely had time to shop! i stopped by a place in time's booth and took a peek at their goodies. i ended up getting a charming little polka dot stamp (i have a thing for polka dots) and a few sheets of paper. i'm not sure what mom got her hands on, but she did leave with a bag of stuff too!

here we are talking crop! these two lovely ladies are coming to the crop on saturday (3/28) so we were talking about how excited we are! i always get excited for our crops, they are always so much fun, plus people usually bring food to snack on, so its like a party! woo hoo!!!!

hey everyone! today is gonna be a short post just to let you know that we are still recovering from scrappers jam yesterday and i will be posting the pictures soon!

i was really looking forward to sleeping in this morning after a really long day yesterday, but my dad couldnt wait for me to get up, so he called my cell phone and hung up! that dirty rat! but i guess its sweet that he couldnt wait to see me again (aww) i guess you could say that its an issue easily solved by starbucks! (yum yum, i love me some starbucks!)

know what was happening on this day 23 years ago in albany, new york? my mom had my big brother! yep, my brother turns 23 today! my how time flies!

we just got in some new dandelion stamps! check it out:

we got a lot of the little characters, and they are all perfect for any occasion! my personal favorites are the penguin, giraffe and the little tiger! to help give you an idea of how big they are, the black grid is in half-inch measurements.

the great thing about these adorable little stamps is that they are perfect to use on cards! with cards you are given a small canvas and you can't always fit a huge image into your card design.

with charming and whimsical characters, dandelion creates the perfect stamp for first birthday, baby showers and all kinds of events!

another great way to use these stamps is to put them on a tag. next time you give a gift, spiff it up with a fun tag that has a penguin on it, penguins are cool! :)

like magazines? we have march's installment of cards magazine and scrapbook trends magazine. what i love most about these magazines is that they cut back on the ads and throw in TONS of ideas! with practically an idea per page, you will never run out of inspiration! i've gotten some of my best ideas after thumbing through these bad boys, you should pick one up too!

i'm not sure about you guys, but i LOVELOVELOVE embossing powder! most people tend to use embossing powder for their cards, and its great for that, but my favorite is using them in my altered artwork! i like making mini albums out of old child board books, and i use embossing powder to enhace the appearance of my stamped images.

american crafts recently came out with their first line of embossing powders and i have them pictured below. what you see is five tiers of fabulous colors that coordinate perfectly with any american crafts product! the first tier houses the flourescent powders, second has the metallics, third has the glitter embossing, and the last two are the opaque. all these colors go very nicely on darker papers (especially the flourescents).

class is in session! our march schedule is put together and i have 2 sneak peeks for you! here are the samples for the card class on sunday march 20th. the cards are about half done in this picture, i just wanted to give you a little peek!

and here we have a tiny snippet of the "Shiny New Penny" layout that mama is teaching on sunday march 15th. i would have taken a bigger picture, but she didnt want me to leak it! sorry, this is all you get for now! but when you stop by the store, we can show you the whole layout!
